PlasmaSeal has developed proprietary devices with many uses in surgery, including controlling bleeding, preventing surgical adhesions, gluing tissues, and permitting the local delivery of drugs, such as chemotherapy agents, antibiotics and growth hormones. Below you will find a diagram showing several of these uses.
  • Chronic wounds
  • Plastic surgery - bruise prevention
  • Veterinary
  • Dental
  • Orthopedics
  • Tissue matrix - cell delivery
  • Protein delivery
  • Hemostasis
  • Surgical wound margin management

PlasmaSeal's PPC has many advantages as well as its use in a myriad of medical fields.

  • PPC is "stat", meaning that it is prepared quickly; using PlasmaSeal's technology, in less than 10 minutes.
  • PPC is an autologous product, made from the patient's own blood, which assures that infectious disease transmission is impossible.
  • PPC contains high levels of fibrinogen, Factor XIII, and all other plasma proteins, as well as platelets which are associated with coagulation and healing.
  • To make a sealant out of PPC one simply mixes with thrombin solution, like other fibrinogen-based hemostatic agents.
  • No chemicals (other than citrate anticoagulant) are added at any step of the process; plasma concentrate contains only natural platelet plasma components.
  • Because of the simplicity of PlasmaSeal's technology, PPC is less expensive than alternatives.
  • PPC is proprietary to PlasmaSeal, and is now in development with several partners.

PlasmaSeal's breakthrough combines the best of the two prior approaches. Like plasma gel, PPC is autologous and thus inherently safe. Like fibrin sealant, the adhesive strength is high enough that PPC sealant is effective at stopping bleeding. PPC also jump starts the natural healing process. It does so by activating the platelets normally found in blood, causing them to release a panoply of growth factors. These growth factors are released in an exquisite combination which signals the appropriate macrophage and fibroblast cells into the clot from the wound margins and begin the tissue regeneration process. These cells are signaled by the growth factors and use the fibrin fibrils in the gel clot as their conduits. Unlike all competing products, PPC provides both the "highways" as well as the "signals."

Finally there is a product on the market that is a simple and natural accelerant of hemostasis and wound healing. The medical professional wants to provide the best care possible with the least complication and the patient wants the peace of mind that their own blood is being used to heal their own body. PlasmaSeal provides both.
